Founded in 1869 at the University of Virginia, Kappa Sigma fraternity has an extensive history of excellence. The purpose of Kappa Sigma is to achieve the total development of a better man...academically, socially, culturally, civically, and as a successful leader and role model to others. Fall semester 2000 announced the return of WSU's oldest recognized fraternity. Kappa Sigma provides strong scholarship support, self-improvement opportunities, and an active social life for brothers.
We have a well-built scholarship program, which includes over $25,000 given to our brothers each academic school year. We participate in numerous philanthropies including our renowned Apple Cup Run, which for over 20 years has raised money for cancer research, and our Starlet Competition, which raises money for local charities. Our social events include our annual luau and raft trip along with many functions with fraternities and sororities.
We have a strong brotherhood that includes a diverse group of individuals. Our alumni are also very active and helpful in our chapter operation. We are proud of our heritage at WSU that include such distinguished alumni as Edward R. Murrow and Mike Lowry. We are devoted to recruiting only the finest gentlemen on campus who are interested in bettering themselves through scholarship, leadership, and brotherhood. Kappa Sigma is a fraternity for life.
