Phi Kappa Tau Chapter House
In 1906 the Phi Kappa Tau Fraternity was originally founded. The creation of the fraternity was started at Miami University in Oxford, Ohio. Since then the brotherhood has grown to over 100,000 members throughout over 120 chapters within the U.S. In this past year we have spread to the University of Washington, by re-opening the Alpha Pi chapter house, and to Oregon State University by re-starting the Alpha Zeta colony. This, among other things, has made Phi Kappa Tau one of the strongest fraternities in Greek communities across the nation. In addition, our national fraternity also provides scholarships to our members and leadership training opportunities through the Phi Kappa Tau foundation and Leadership Academy.

The Phi Kappa Tau fraternity was chartered at Washington State in 1927, becoming the Alpha Kappa Chapter house. The house consists of approximately 38 scholars. These fine gentlemen are consistently striving to better their lives by increasing their skills in leadership roles, athletics, social abilities, and most of all education. We are proud of our tradition of recruiting excellent men, keeping a great reputation on Greek Row, and continuing to be an active part in the community. Throughout the chapter there is a diverse group of men with a variety of interests, goals, and backgrounds.

Our members are involved in numerous organizations including GAMMA, Beta Alpha Psi, and Junior Interfraternity Council. Along with organizations, our members are involved in many student activities, whether it is intramural sports or going to Football games to cheer on our mighty Cougars. A great point in the 2004-2005 year was having some of our members win the competitive intramural soccer championship. Furthermore, our fraternity plays a major role in raising money for our National Charity, the Hole in the Wall Gang Camp, which is led by Paul Newman and supports terminally ill children. Last year we raised about 2,000 dollars in funds, with a big part of the money coming from two of our members running in the Portland to Coast Marathon.

Phi Kappa Tau creates lifelong friendships and memories, also offering a unique college experience. You will not only grow as a person, but you will grow academically and be more prepared for life itself, while having a great time doing it. The Alpha Kappa Chapter of the Phi Kappa Tau Fraternity welcomes all the new freshmen to WSU and also is looking forward to meeting you.
