The Greek Leadership Academy
(formerly known as TEAM Leadership Retreat)
January 26-28, 2007

The Greek Leadership Academy is a retreat weekend facilitated by the Center for Fraternity and Sorority Life with the help of four to six coaches (primarily WSU employees who care about the Greek system, and/or are interested in making a difference).  The President, Standards Chair, Conduct/Standards, and New Member Educator (or equivalent officer) from each Greek chapter on campus are invited and strongly encouraged to participate. Non-IFC and Non-Panhellenic Greek chapters are strongly encouraged to send the President and 1-2 other officers or members that are interested in learning more about membership development and public image/public relations. The goal is to have three of each chapter's most influential officers at the retreat.

What are the goals of The Greek Leadership Academy?

One of the goals of the retreat weekend is to bring Officers from EVERY Greek chapter together to discuss common issues and concerns (ritual, motivating your group, team building, gender and communication, diversity, hazing, alcohol, public image, etc.), and to provide specialized training for each officer group.

Another goal of the retreat is to develop personal leadership skills and qualities in the individuals that attend; thereby significantly impacting each participating chapter.

What's so great about this retreat?

This retreat has had an enormous impact on the Greek community in a variety of ways. Bridges were built and barriers between groups are torn down. Many of the students that attended TEAM in 2006 or 2007 are now holding leadership positions in their chapters, and on campus. The chapters that did not attend TEAM have expressed their regret of not doing so. This is an educational, growth enhancing, team building, and fun weekend that is applicable to all Greek leaders.

The Greek Leadership Academy weekend is a pivotal part of the Greek experience and we encourage all chapters to make sure that initiation, regional conferences, and alumni weekends are not scheduled to conflict with this weekend. We encourage all chapters to participate and believe that the information and experience gained will be indispensable for your organization. Don’t miss out!

Who has the opportunity to attend The Greek Leadership Academy?

EACH chapter has a responsibility to their officers, the Greek community and their own chapter to provide quality leadership training opportunities for their officers. The Greek Leadership Academy will be the best opportunity in 2008 for your officers to develop their leadership skills as they relate to our Greek Community. Those attending The Greek Leadership Academy should include: the Chapter President, New Member Educator, and IFA/Panhellenic/NPHC or UGC Representative. Chapter members not holding office, and/or New Members should not be your chapter’s representatives at The Greek Leadership Academy 2008.

Does it cost anything to go to The Greek Leadership Academy?

The cost to attend TEAM  is based upon the cost of travel meals and lodging and is due before departure from Pullman before the retreat.
The fee for The Greek Leadership Academy 2008 is $110 per person, payable to
Greek Leadership Academy, and should be received at the Center for Fraternity and Sorority Life by 5 pm on Monday, January 22, 2007.

When is The Greek Leadership Academy WEEKEND?

January 25-27, 2008 @ Camp N-Sid-Sen on Lake Couer d'Alene.

We'll leave Pullman on charter buses at 2:00 pm on Friday, and return around 1:00 pm on Sunday. Everyone must ride the buses. Check in for the buses will begin at 1:00 pm in front of Adams Mall.
